Norman Rockwell was born in 1894 in New York City, and died in 1978 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. He's best known for the magazine cover illustrations he designed for the Saturday Evening Post, Boy's Life, Life Magazine, Look Magazine, and other popular magazines. Maxfield Parrish was born in 1870 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and died in 1966. His father was a noted etcher. He studied originally to be an architect. Influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, Parrish went on to become the most popular American illustrator prior to Norman Rockwell, designing posters, book and magazine covers, calendars, and other illustrations. Joseph Leyendecker was born in 1874 in Germany to parents of Dutch ancestry. He died in 1951. In 1882, when he was eight, his family emigrated to the United States. He studied art at the Chicago Art Institute and Academie Julian in Paris. He is best known for his Arrow Collar Man advertisements and cover designs for the Saturday Evening Post and other magazines.
